Welcome to “Stop Renting Weight Loss!” I’m Pat Barone, America’s Weight Loss Catalyst, of Catalyst Coaching LLC.
I’m on a mission to educate the world about permanent weight loss because I truly believe it is the answer to excess weight, the pain we suffer because of it, and many of the health problems which result from overweight.
After battling excess weight and watching my weight yo-yo up and down, depending on the diet flavor of the day, I decided to lose weight permanently. To my surprise, my doctor didn’t think I could do it. My friends rolled their eyes. My family said, “Yeah, right. You’ve said that before.”
After getting curious, I learned they had NEVER seen permanent weight loss. (That’s right, even my doctor!)
And neither had I. But that didn’t stop me. You see, at the time, I may have been living in the frozen tundra of Madison, Wisconsin, but I am a Texas Cowgirl at heart and, when I put my mind to something, I make it happen.
Every moment of my journey, every pound, I was focused on one thing: Losing weight for the last time.
I’m practical. If I’m going to learn new skills, make big changes in my lifestyle, and change my relationship with food (yes, it is a relationship, perhaps the most important in your life), I wanted to keep the results.
I wanted to stop renting weight loss and keep my accomplishment for life. I refused to let the lease to run out. I didn’t want to be evicted, ever.
My weight loss of over 70 lbs. occurred between during the years 1996 to 2000. Since that time, I’ve kept the weight off.
Today, I’m privileged to coach clients all over the world in the principles of permanent weight loss through the Catalyst System for Permanent Weight Loss, which I designed. Some clients coach individually in one-on-one sessions with me. Some join one of my “enLIGHTen Your Life!” weight loss groups, where I form a supportive and structured environment for change with 4-8 wonderful clients. Others educate themselves through my products: workbooks, audio CDs, and programs.
One thing you won’t see on my website (www.patbarone.com) or my blog is an endless array of ads targeting overweight folks with useless supplements, “secrets” and “magic” diets. In fact, if anything in your life says “diet” I urge you to throw it out. It won’t serve you in the long run.
One thing you will see is real information, delivered with integrity and honesty. I believe straightforward education is the best thing going. I had to learn a lot in order to make the changes that led me to permanent weight loss. I’ve helped thousands grow beyond their need for excess food.
I’m on a mission to educate the world about permanent weight loss because I truly believe it is the answer to excess weight, the pain we suffer because of it, and many of the health problems which result from overweight.
If you’re ready to stop renting weight loss, I invite you to visit and participate in this blog as I share my knowledge.

What a clever name — and perspective — you’ve shared with us. Well done!
I am so glad to see you have a blog, Pat. I have struggles my entire life with huge weight swings, I think I must have lost the equivalent of an 18 wheeler by now! Making it permanent has been the elusive element. Your tweets have often given me an “AH HA” moment and the articles you’ve written for our Perrie Meno-Pudge’s Midlife Musings get GREAT response from our visitors.
So GLAD YOU NOW HAVE A BLOG!!!
Joanne
I love the “equivalent of an 18 wheeler”!!! Aren’t you sick of it? I’m determined to talk ONLY of permanent change. It’s only illusive because we make a lot of money for diet industry when we stay in stupid behavior around food. Notice I say the behavior is stupid, not the people. We are very smart people, just not making the best choices for our long-term health.
The whole paradigm has to shift. Life first. Love second. Food is way down the list in terms of importance.
It takes a truly caring person to work with people who have a death grip on their bad eating habits and the reason for them. Everyone wants to lose weight but no one wants to change. Keep up the good work Pat.
